Figure 1: Omega nebula (M17), exposure 35 min., d= -16.2o, local hour angle at the beginning t= -1h43m, by Arthur von Känel, Vermes.

The Omega nebula was the first exposure after we aligned the hour axis on the apparent (refracted) pole with a precision of +/- 10 arc seconds. This was the prove to us, that the accuracy that is obtained by the drift alignment method is not appropriate for photographic purposes.

All here shown photographs are taken by Arthur von Känel and are exposed in CH-2829 Vermes (Switzerland). The photographs of the planets and most of the technical photographs were made in CH-4058 Basel.

Polar alignment pictures ("Polaufnahmen")

In this section one finds photographs which show the practical part of the method of E.S. King.

Technical photographs

Photographs which show certain aspects of the refraction and dispersion and our “accidents”.
